Solar Energy

>Table of contents      Print

the Western France region offers great competencies in the solar energy sector and presents a real commitment to developing it through a call for proposals to PV companies, and a real market of 65 MWp to be installed by 2012.

A real market

With a newly installed capacity of 104.5 MWp in 2008, the French PV market reaches 175 MWp and should become a leading country in the deployment of solar PV energy in Europe in the coming years.

Within France, the Poitou-Charentes region (Western France), which has always been a leader in environmental excellence, has adopted an amitious regional photovoltaic plan (65 MWp to be installed by 2012) representing an investment of 400 million euros.

A call for proposals

the Poitou-Charentes has launched an invitation for proposals to PV companies in order to promote the creation of a solar cell/modules production plant in the region.

To achieve these objectives and finance this plan, the region created a unique partnership with the European Investment Bank and the Crédit Agricole Bank.

Industries

  • Modules manufacturers: Solaire Direct
  • Solar cells: Solar 44
  • PV tiles: Solar Composites, S'tile,
  • Installer/Fitters :  more than 1,000 certified PV and Solar Thermal systems installers (PHOENIX Sonnenwärme AG, ENUS GmbH , ...)

Training

  • European Master’s degree in building engineering (Focus on integration of renewable energies in buildings & energy efficiency) in the University of La Rochelle –
  • Many training courses in electronics and manufacturing process management that have links with solar industry

Research and Engineering

  • Engineering offices: Alliance Soleil, Arkitekto
  • PHYMAT – Laboratory of physical metallurgy (University of Poitiers+CNRS) – Thin films and Nanostructured Materials division – Research activity focus on a better understanding, at the microscopic level, of the relationships between growth parameters, structure/composition and physical properties of thin films which develop a nanostructuration.
  • LAMPLaboratory of Materials for Photovoltaics (University of Nantes) – Research activity is mainly focused on realisation and characterisation of materials for solar cells: Solar cells based on Cu(In, Ga)Se2, Solar cells based on organics

International event

ENR Green business meetings
If you want to attend this event, contact us

The ENR GREEN business meetings is the first event (business convention and congress) dedicated to the renewable energies industry (solar, energy performance of buildings, wind, biomass, geothermics, bio-fuels, hydraulics) and gathering all the players: contractors, manufacturers of materials and equipments, sub-contractors, design offices, engineering consultants, elected representatives...). It takes place in Le Mans.
