Biotechnologies

>Table of contents      Print

During the past 10 years, the region has seen the emergence of one of the most dynamic biotech clusters in France.

The only cyclotron worldwide for nuclear medicine

arronax

The ARRONAX (Accelerator for Research in Radiochemistry and Oncology at Nantes Atlantic) is a particle accelerator (cyclotron) used in nuclear medicine. It was set up in Nantes in 2008.

Its main domain of application is diagnostic (PET imaging) and therapeutic (radionuclide therapy) oncology. Another application is PET imaging in cardiology.

Radiolysis is the second facet of the research project. ARRONAX provides a privileged tool, on the one hand, to better determine the confining quality of radioactive waste containers and, on the other hand, to test devices under radiation (like e.g. spatial electronic).

4 competitive clusters

Atlanpole Biotherapies

The Atlanpole Biotherapies cluster federates the range of skills present in the cluster's labs, technical facilities and businesses and offers comprehensive, relevant and competitive private-public sector solutions right along the biotherapeutics value chain - from target discovery to clinical assessment.
It focuses on drug targeting, biomanufacturing and preclinical & clinical evaluation

Biogenouest cluster

Biogenouest (formerly OUEST-genopole) is the life science co-facility network in Western France. Biogenouest (formerly OUEST-genopole).
It covers 4 fields (Marine biology, Agriculture/Food-processing, Human health and Bioinformatics) and 5 core facilities (Sequencing/Genotyping, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Functional exploration and Bioinformatics).

Canceropole

The Canceropole gathers researchers, research units and hospital centers and is focused on the transfer of information and technical expertise to the clinical sector.

Biopole Poitiers

The Biopole is a cancerology Pole with ultramodern medical technology. It works on 3 themes: biomedical sciences, plant science-agronomy, and water management-environment. Each branch involves both public actors and private companies.
